Tanzania Clean Water Initiative

The Altalma Foundation is proud to partner with Energy for All (E4A) to improve access to safe drinking water and sanitation in underserved communities in northeastern Tanzania. Through this collaboration, we support sustainable, community-led infrastructure projects that improve health, enhance quality of life, and create opportunities for long-term economic and social development.

Working alongside Energy for All and its local partner, TATU Project, Altalma provides strategic support, project management expertise, and funding to help deliver clean water solutions to the rural villages of Londoto and Msitu wa Tembo. Together, the initiative will provide more than 2,000 residents with reliable access to clean drinking water through the construction of water wells and solar-powered pumping systems.

Our work focuses on four key areas of impact:

Access to Clean Water – Supporting the development of sustainable water infrastructure, including water wells and solar-powered pumping systems that provide reliable access to safe drinking water for rural communities.
Community Capacity Building – Partnering with locally established water committees to strengthen community ownership, long-term stewardship, and the sustainable management of water resources.
Health & Sanitation Education – Supporting community-based education initiatives that promote handwashing, hygiene, and sanitation practices to improve public health and reduce waterborne illness.
Collaborative Partnerships – Working in partnership with Energy for All, TATU Project, local leaders, and community members to ensure projects are community-driven, culturally appropriate, and designed to create lasting impact.

With more than half of Tanzania’s population lacking access to safe drinking water and rural sanitation remaining a significant challenge, this partnership demonstrates the power of collaboration to address critical infrastructure needs. By investing in sustainable water systems and empowering local communities, Altalma Foundation and Energy for All are helping improve health outcomes, strengthen community resilience, and create brighter futures for generations to come.
